Rowing Machines

Prefer playing a pick-up game of basketball or taking a dip in the pool? Then informal recreation is for you! Informal recreation enables you to use a facility in an unstructured setting for your enjoyment. The CU Rec Center is ADA-compliant and all eligible people with physical limitations are invited to participate in the center - with your input, we can make reasonable accommodations. All amenities of the facility are available for informal use at some point during the day. A unisex locker and shower facility is available.

Amenities

  • State-of-the-art Aerobics Studio - 3,800 sq. ft of hardwood flooring, wall mirrors, and ballet bar. Use of this amenity is limited to scheduled university activities, programs, and classes - aerobic, dance, Pilates, and yoga classes.
  • Cardiovascular Theater, equipped with three 50-inch HD TVs and state-of-the-art cardio ­equipment. More >>
  • Indoor Climbing Wall - 2,000 sq. feet of vertical rock climbing area. It is a safe environment for the beginner or the expert to hone their skills. Classes are offered by the outdoor program. Certification is required to use the wall. More >>
  • Free-Weight Room - located on the lower level, is over 7,200 sq. ft. and equipped with top of the line Olympic bars, plates, exercise machines, and weight training stations for all muscle groups. Available during regular building hours. More >>
  • Fitness Systems Room - resistance train with Cybex, Nautilus, and new Eagle machines. Also contains lifecycles and an elliptical machine.
  • Two Multi-Use Gymnasiums - located on the upper level and available for several informal activities: badminton, table tennis, drop-in volleyball, and open space. The west end is open for table tennis and badminton games. Table tennis tables and badminton net are always set up during open recreation times. This area is open for informal recreation except when there are special events scheduled. Table tennis and badminton equipment is available at Equipment Checkout. The middle courts are set up for drop-in volleyball. These courts are open during the day for the most part but are often scheduled for programs in the evenings. The east end is an open space with mirrors along one wall. Two heavy bags are also located on this end. Use this space to stretch and practice martial arts or an activity of your choice. This space has programs scheduled periodically throughout the afternoon and evening.

  • Mat Room - a completely padded facility. Use it for your stretching and exercise activities. Occasionally, Programs and classes are scheduled during the day and in the evening during the week.
  • 3 Indoor Basketball Courts - located on the lower level, are available for drop-in basketball. Evening hours are limited Monday through Thursday due to Programs. Basketballs are available through Equipment Checkout. More >>
  • 6 Handball/Wallyball/Racquetball courts - Courts can be reserved by calling 303-492-6599 or come in and see if a court is available. Reservations can be made for a day in advance. Equipment is available at the Equipment Checkout window. More >>
  • 2 Squash Courts - located on the upper level by the ice rink, can be reserved by calling 303-492-6599. Squash equipment is available through Equipment Checkout. More >>
  • 8 Tennis Courts - (four at the Rec Center and four at Bear Creek) - these courts are lit and reservations can be made by calling the CU Rec Center at 303-492-6599. More >>
  • Badminton Court - available for “drop in play or can be reserved up to a day in advance. More >>
  • Table Tennis Tables - Available in the General Gym in the Main Recreation Center. Enjoy a game of table tennis at your leisure. These tables are available on a drop in basis.
  • Diving Well - 12 ft. deep diving well is ideal for those who like to relax or exercise by jumping into a big body of water, the diving well is open almost all day long and some evening hours. More >>
  • 25-yard Lap Swimming Pool - visible through the windows in the west lobby, it is open only to informal swimming (lap swimming) during pool hours. Occasions this pool is closed for special events; dates and times are posted in advance. The Clare Small Pool may, at times, be used as an alternate facility for lap swimming. There are non-lap swim or family swim hours scheduled each day. More >>
  • Ice Arena - located on the upper level, overlooks Boulder, and provides a year-round sheet of ice for recreational skating, classes, club sports, and intramurals. More >>
  • Indoor Running Track - 1/10 mile, banked suspended running track is always available during regular building hours.
  • Stationary Bike Studio - located on the lower floor, and offers stationary bikes for our exercise programs.
  • Rowing Studio - located on the basement level, offering 15 rowing machines. Occasionally, Programs and Classes are scheduled early morning during the week.
  • Large Locker Rooms and Shower Facilities with Dry Heat Saunas - free locks and towels available for a day, or ask about semester rentals.
  • Unisex Shower/Locker Facility - The Rec Center offers an individual toilet/shower/locker facility for families and those who wish to have the individual use of these amenities.

  • Outdoor Equipment Rental - outdoor equipment such as sleeping bags, tents, backpacks, snowshoes, and skis may be rented at a nominal fee. More >>
  • Conference Rooms: five conference rooms available for meetings, classes, and informal recreation.
