Expansion Renovation Project
In April 2011, the University of Colorado Student Body made history by turning out in record numbers to support the expansion and renovation of the Student Recreation Center. Nearly 37% of eligible student voters participated in the election, and over 70% of them voted “YES” to increase student fees in support of this $63.5M project.
The Student Recreation Center will have a new entrance located on the southwest corner of the current facility. As patrons enter they will encounter a warm and inviting atmosphere complete with comfortable furniture, digital screen displays, and large meeting areas.
Expanded Weight and Cardio Space
The Rec Center expansion will provide a 3 tiered level state of the art weight and cardio area, a lower level for free weights, and several additional spaces for cardio.
State of The Art Climbing Wall
The bouldering wall is 120 linear feet crafted to accommodate a large volume of bouldering participants. The dedicated lead climbing section of the tall wall ascends to 38 feet and has all the key features of cracks, overhangs and beginner to advanced routes.

The new ice rink is a year round, cutting edge 200X85 sheet with stadium seating, surround system, overhead LED lighting, and a new refrigeration system. Amenities include private meeting rooms, skate rental, a warming area, and dedicated team locker rooms. Three tennis courts will be located on the roof of the ice rink with wind screens, lights, and great views of the Flatirons!
