10th Mountain Hut Trip to Shrine Pass
Experience the comfort of a mountain hut amidst the Colorado Rockies. You can cross country ski or snow-shoe. We will carpool for transportation; most food and gear are included. The distance to the hut is approximately three miles. No experience necessary
Cross Country Ski Instruction (Half-day)
This course is designed for first time skiers who want to find out what
it's like to cross country ski. The course will run from approximately 9am to
3pm. Balance and basic movement on skis is emphasized with instruction on gentle
terrain. Fee includes instruction and entry level equipment. Unfortunately,
we cannot guarantee correct boot size due to demands.
Snowshoe Tour
Strap on some snowshoes and come on a breathtaking tour through the mountains.
Fee includes snowshoes and instruction, but not transportation. No experience
necessary!
Avalanche Level I
Enjoying winter safely in the backcountry involves knowing how to recognize
potential avalanche hazards. This clinic will focus on snowpack structure, snow
metamorphism and more importantly, avalanche dynamics, terrain analysis, stability
evaluation, route finding, safety and rescue. Our first meeting will be in the
conference rooms while our second is in the field. Fee includes equipment, instruction
and clinic handouts.
Avalanche Rescue Clinic
This is one day of safety training you don't want to miss if you plan on riding or traveling in the Colorado backcountry! We will teach you everything you need to know about using avalance beacons, probing, and working to find those buried in avalanche terrain. Don't be caught in a tough situation without this course under your belt!
Beginning Backcountry Telemark Instruction
This outing will cover backcountry telemark turns and techniques while enjoying
Colorado's champagne powder. Fee includes entry level ski equipment. Unfortunately,
we cannot guarantee correct boot fit due to size demands.
Cross Country Ski Tour
Enjoy this gentle tour through a backwoods area near Boulder. The instructor
will assist with some helpful tips in becoming more proficient on cross country
skis. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee correct boot fit due to size demands.
Shoe and Soak
Come join us for a nice snowshoe through the woods and relax at the end
of the day while you soak in a hot spring. Fee includes equipment but not entrance
fee ($10) to hot springs. Transportation will be arranged by carpool.
The Outdoor
Program can run personalized trips for 2, 3, 4 or more members of the Rec Center.
The rates are: 2 people @ $55/person; 3 people @ $50/person; 4 people @ $45/person.
