ROCK CLIMBING

Beginning Bouldering

Spend the afternoon learning at some of boulder's famous bouldering spots.

Intro to Artificial Placement

This one-day course is for participants with limited climbing experience who need to learn more about climbing safely. Participants will be introduced to different types of protection along with proper placement and removal. Anchor theory will be discussed and demonstrated as it pertains to belay stations and top roping situations.

 

Introduction to Lead Climbing

Join us for a full day of mock lead climbing and instruction. The Outdoor Program Pro and Anchor course or similar knowledge is recommended prior ro taking this course.

 

Climb the Third Flatiron
The legendary third Flatiron is perhaps Boulder's most prominent landmark. Enjoy a weekend day on a guided climb up the east face route. You must have a base skill level of belaying and rappelling.

Top Rope Fun

Spend a full day top rope climbing around Boulder! Previous belay experience preferred.

Rapp On

Rappel with the Outdoor Program. We'll take care of everything. No experience necessarry.

Women Rock!

Experience a full day of rock climbing specifically for women. No experience necessary.

Natural Anchor Setting

Learn how to set up an anchor using minimal gear. All students will have the opportunity to build their own top rope anchor.

Intro to Sport Climbing

This one-day course is designed for those who top rope climb and are ready to take it a step further. Previous climbing and belaying experience preferred.

Intro to Multi-Pitch Climbing

This full-day course teaches the skills required for multi-pitch climbing. Pro and Anchors course and Intro to lead or equivalent knowledge are recomended prior to taking this class.

Belay Escape and Climbing Self Rescue

A must for any climber! Class may be taught in the climbing gym or outdoors, depending on weather. Participants need to bring 10 feet or 7mm accessory cord. Other equipment provided.

ICE CLIMBING

Ouray on Ice

Release the stress of finals by learning how to ice climb in beautiful Ouray, Colorado. All gear is provided. Price includes gear, registration, lodging, and transportation (food is on your own).

Beginning Waterfall Ice Climbing
This ONE-DAY class will introduce students to the basics of waterfall ice climbing in a top rope situation. Topics covered will include safety, gear selection and movement on ice. Prior rock climbing and belaying experience is a must. Crampons, boots, and ice tools will be provided. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee correct boot fit due to size demands. We will carpool to the climbing site.

The Outdoor Program can run personalized trips for 2, 3, 4 or more members of the Rec Center. The rates are: 2 people @ $55/person; 3 people @ $50/person; 4 people @ $45/person. Please call the Outdoor Program 492-6080 with questions or to set up a trip.
