Frequently Asked
Questions
What
are the pool hours?
The pool is
open during Student Recreation Center hours. As a rule of thumb, the pool opens
at the same time as the Recreation Center, and closes one hour before the Recreation
Center. Refer to the swimming pool page for regular
semester hours. For recreation center hours, see the building
hours.
When can children come
to swim?
Children under 18 may swim during family swim hours only. During the
summer, family swim hours are all day Monday through Friday excluding 11:00
a.m. until 1:00 p.m and all day Saturday and Sunday. The family swim hours for
the fall and spring semester are on the swimming pool page.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult in the pool area at all times.
Why do you have to shower
before entering the pool?
Colorado Health Department regulations require that all patrons shower before
entering the pool. This helps to ensure proper water quality for the safety
and enjoyment of our patrons. This rule also applies to individuals re-entering
the pool from the sun deck.
When is lap swim?
Lap lanes are available during all pool hours.
When is there open diving?
Open diving hours vary because various classes (e.g. water aerobics, SCUBA)
and teams (e.g. water polo) use the dive well. Schedules indicating when the
dive well is available for open diving are posted weekly on the pool bulletin
board on the north wall of the pool by the entrance to Clare Small pool.
How many lap lanes are
there?
Eight.
What is the water temperature
in the pools?
81 to 82 degrees.
For what are Clare and
Carlson Pools used?
Collegiate Sport Clubs, instruction
program, outdoor program, rentals
and sometimes intramural sports.
