Outdoor Equipment Rental

Outdoor Gear (Camping and Winter Sports):
For those of you who enjoy the outdoors, the Outdoor Program is the place to start! Your choice of equipment for the mountains or here on campus, is available at extremely reasonable rates. All gear is picked up on Fridays and returned on Mondays.

Reservations

Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance of use. Reservations must be made in person and full payment is required at that time. Reservations must be made by Rec Center closing time on Thursday prior to pick up. Gear that is not reserved is available first-come first-serve on Friday.

Pick Up

Gear can be picked up at the Outdoor Program Office on Fridays between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Weekend rentals are from Friday to the following Monday. Weeklong rentals are from Friday to the next week Monday. There is no overnight or one-day rentals. Long weekends get a free day (i.e. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: pick up Friday, return Tuesday). You must bring your receipt of payment to the Outdoor Program office at time of equipment pick up. An Equipment Rental Agreement must be filled out by renter at pick up. The Agreement includes rental policies, waiver, and credit card deposit information. All rentals must have a credit card on file. Gear should be inspected by renter to make sure all parts are there and equipment is in good condition.

Returns

All gear must be returned the Monday specified by the OP office between 10:00am and 4:00pm. Gear cannot be returned to equipment check-out or the cashiers. Gear may not be returned early. All gear will be checked for damage upon return. Gear needs to be dry and clean. Sleeping bags will be unrolled to check for damage and to make sure it is dry and clean.

Fees

A cleaning fee of $8 will apply for all wet, dirty, or soiled equipment. A replacement cost will apply for all damaged, lost, stolen, or incomplete gear. Renters will get a revenue card at time of return stating any fees owed.After 10 days from date of return, all gear not returned or with outstanding fees may have fees charged directly to credit card on file. Renters have agreed to this in the Equipment Rental Agreement. No charges are contestable.

**We do not rent out avalanche beacons or technical climbing equipment.
