Fitness Leadership Program

Weight Training

The Fitness Leadership Program is an in-depth training program that is based on the American Council on Exercise (ACE) standards and guidelines.

This program has two tracks:  

  1. Group Fitness Instructor Training (GFIT)
  2. Personal Trainer Preparation Course (PTP)

Personal Trainer Preparation (PTP)

PTP is offered T/TH, 4:30-6:00pm, 1/28-4/24, $325

The Personal Trainer Preparation follows the American Council on Exercise (ACE) curriculum for Personal Trainer Certification. The course is designed to provide the participant with the practical application of individual & small group program design as well as basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Cost is $325, includes text and study materials.

Early registration recommended as space is limited.

Group Fitness Instructor Training (GFIT)

GFIT is offered the Fall semester only.

If you enjoy fitness, helping others and working out in a group setting then consider starting a path to becoming a fitness instructor. This 10-week training program, using the American Council on Exercise (ACE) curriculum, provides you with the information, instruction, education, and practical experience needed to become a safe and effective group fitness instructor. At the conclusion of the course, participants will be invited to audition for the Rec Center instructor staff.
