Asbestos

Like most universities with buildings dating to the 1970s, the CU-Boulder campus includes a number of facilities built with materials that contain asbestos. To help in the prevention of unnecessary disturbance of asbestos, it is important for you to not disturb any building materials in CU-Boulder facilities. For more information call, e-mail, or visit the Department of Environmental Health and Safety website.

The University Memorial Center (UMC), located on the corner of Broadway and Euclid, is the gathering place of choice for CU students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. This is the campus “living room”—the place where students spend out-of-the-classroom time to grab a bite to eat, meet friends, enjoy free entertainment, shop, study, or just hang out! More than 18,000 people visit every day. Throughout its five floors, you’ll discover that the UMC can simultaneously be an exciting, lively center and a comfortable haven.

The UMC gets its name from our designation as the state of Colorado’s official memorial to veterans of war. We house over 90 student-group offices, student government, and many student services, making this an exciting center for community interaction and involvement. As a designated multicultural center, we celebrate diversity through food, dance, art, music, and the free exchange of ideas. This is the ideal place to meet others with similar interests or discover new ones!

All UMC programs, facilities, and services support student development by providing real-life learning opportunities within a welcoming, community-building environment. These include leadership development, personal growth, and job skills.

So whether you’re in the mood for fun entertainment, serious engagement, or some international cuisine, you’ll find it at the UMC. There’s live music in the atrium; concerts and lectures in the Glenn Miller Ballroom; local bands in Club 156 (alcohol-free night club); bowling, pool, and games in the Connection; works by national, international, and local artists in the UMC Art Gallery, programming to celebrate diversity in Dennis Small Cultural Center, and a huge selection of delicious food from our restaurants. Check our website for the details…and come visit!
