As part of a statewide civic engagement initiative, the Institute for Ethical and Civic Engagement and INVST Community Studies staff launched Public Achievement (PA) in partnership with the "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County and the Boulder Valley School District in January 2008. The program initially served 25 low-income high school students, who were supported by eight CU undergraduates serving as PA coaches. Since then, PA has been implemented at four sites, and is currently offered at Centaurus High School in Lafayette, Columbine Elementary School in North Boulder, and Escuela Bilingue Pioneer in Lafayette, where nearly 200 K-12 students and more than 50 CU undergraduates participate in the program.
