The Stampede

The Stampede primarily serves CU faculty, staff and students traveling between campuses to attend classes or business meetings. This route provides transit connections between CU-Boulder’s Main, East and Research Park campuses, and to connections for high frequency transit routes running along Broadway Street (the Skip) and Arapahoe (the Jump). Stampede bus stops are close to popular campus destinations such as: the UMC, Administrative & Research Center (ARC building), and the JSC Biotechnology, SEEC and SEEL buildings. Join PTS in an effort to reduce the campus carbon footprint! Park your car on one campus and ride the Stampede to another!

In 2015 CU-Boulder welcomed four short-runs to the eastbound and westbound Stampede route which increases service along Colorado Avenue during busy morning schedules. Riders! Please read the destination marquee before boarding the bus. Read on for details.

The eastbound short-runs commence at Euclid and 18th St., follow the regular Stampede route on 18th and Colorado, then turns onto Discovery Drive from Colorado and allows passengers to board and disembark at JSC Biotechnology on Innovation Drive. When traveling eastbound from Main Campus, look for the Stampede buses that indicate “Innovation/Discovery Dr” on their marquees; these are the short-run buses that will end their routes at Discovery Drive and will NOT continue on to Marine Street.

Riders bound for destinations on East Campus north of Boulder Creek (ARC, Housing System Maintenance & Service Center, Computing Center, Transportation Services, RL-1, RL-2, Marine Street Science Center and the Science Learning Laboratory – Arapahoe Avenue, the Center for Innovation and Creativity or Distribution Services) should AVOID eastbound Stampede buses labeled “Innovation/Discovery Dr” and instead look for those labeled “Marine Street/Arapahoe”.

The westbound short-runs will begin at the JSC Biotechnology stop on Innovation Drive before traveling westbound on Colorado Ave. These buses marquees will display the destination as “18th & Euclid”, the same as all other westbound Stampede buses.

Free for CU students, faculty or staff with an Eco Pass or College Bus Pass. The Stampede is operated by the RTD, and is open to the general public. For a current fare rate please check the Stampede website.
