Boulder
The city of Boulder is often picked as one of the most desirable places
to live in the country because of its beautiful setting, abundant parks,
and lively cultural atmosphere. Boulder has a mild, dry climate, with
more than 300 days of sunshine per year, and residents tend to spend a
lot of time outdoors. Over 80 miles of pedestrian and bike paths, as well
as a convenient bus system, provide transportation around town.
Popular activities in Boulder include strolling along the Pearl Street
Mall; hiking and rock climbing; enjoying
a feast at the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse; taking in first-rate
performances at Chautauqua Park Historic District and the Colorado Shakespeare
Festival; running in the Bolder Boulder; and gathering fresh produce at
the farmers' market.
Denver
Denver, Colorado's capital, is only 30 miles from Boulder and is one of
the fastest growing cities in the U.S. It doesn't take long to discover
why, given its outstanding quality of life. Denver is characterized by
great weather and numerous parks and pathways, which allow for an active
lifestyle.
Denver has some of the finest museums in the West, including the Denver
Art Museum, the Black American West Museum, and the Denver Museum of Nature
and Science. Other attractions include the Colorado State Capitol, with
its dome covered in 200 ounces of pure gold; the Denver Zoo, which is
consistently rated as one of the top 10 in America; and Red Rocks Amphitheatre,
an arena carved out of huge, 500-foot high, red sandstone cliffs, is home
to many outdoor concerts. The Denver Center for the Performing Arts Complex
is the second largest performing arts center in the nation in seating
capacity and the largest in the world under one roof.
Colorado
The mountainous area of Colorado is six times the size of Switzerland
and contains 9,600 miles of streams, 2,850 lakes, and more than 1,000
peaks over two miles high. Rocky Mountain National Park is located only
45 miles from Boulder and features 400 square miles of scenic beauty.
Colorado has 25 official ski/snowboard resorts, and approximately 11 are
within three hours driving time from Boulder. Eldora Mountain, the closest
ski area to Boulder, is only about 20 miles away.
