This 2009-10 transfer guide is based on degree requirements for CU-BoulderŐs School of Education. Colorado community college students can use this guide to plan their program of study and selection of courses.

Applying and Admission
Transfer students cannot be admitted directly into the School of Education. Transfer students must apply to the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Music and be enrolled before making application to the Teacher Licensure Program.
Students who intend to pursue the Teacher Licensure Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder must follow a CCHE approved bachelor's degree plan in one of the other academic colleges or schools and meet specific academic preparation requirements that fulfill state standards for teachers.
Students who wish to apply to the School of Education after their transfer to the University of Colorado at Boulder must satisfy the following criteria:
- Junior Standing - A student must have a minimum of 56 semester hours completed or in progress at the time of application
- GPA - A student must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75
- Youth Experience - All applicants must submit verification of successful experiences with youth of the appropriate grade level before their application will be processed. Verification must be provided on the Youth Experience Verification form , and must be completed by a supervisor who can verify the amount, type and qualities of the interactions performed. The youth experience must be completed within five years of the application submission date for the intended admission term.
- Basic Skills - All applicants must demonstrate basic skills competence in mathematics and literacy through one of the following means:
- Completion of a college-level composition course with a grade of B- or better; and completion of a college-level mathematics course with a grade of B- or better
- ACT English and mathematics subtest scores at or above the national mean; SAT I verbal and mathematics or SAT II writing and mathematics subtest scores at or above the national mean
- A passing score on the appropriate Praxis PPST exam (contact the School of Education for test administration information)
Recommended Course Work (Elementary Education Program)
A community college student planning to become an elementary teacher who earns a C or better in the following courses will be guaranteed that these courses apply to graduation requirements for elementary teacher programs.
Writing
6 credit hours (grades in ENG 121 and ENG 122 must be B or better)

Humanities
One of the following:
LIT 115-3 Introduction to Literature, LIT 201-3 Masterpieces of Literature I, LIT 202-3 Masterpieces of Literature II, LIT 211-3 Survey of American Literature I, LIT 221-3 Survey of British Literature I

9 credit hours of the following:
GEO 105-3 World Regional Geography, POS 111-3 American Government, HIS 201-3 U.S. History I
Math
6 credit hours of the following:
MAT 155 Integrated Math I -3 and MAT 155 Integrated Math II-3
Science (lab based science courses)
12 credit hours of the following:
GEY 111-4 Physical Geology*;
BIO 105-4 Science of Biology or BIO 111-5 General College Biology I*
CHEM 101/111 Intro to Chemistry-Integrated Science or PHY 105/111/211 Intro to Physics*
* Effective Fall 2004 Integrated Science I and Integrated Science II plus one other approved lab-based science course will be required.
Transfer of Credit Policies
- Only academic courses with a letter grade of C or better will be accepted for transfer; courses with grades of F, D, IP, I, U, or AU (audit) are not transferable. Students must earn a C for courses taken Pass/Fail.
- Only courses with grade of C or better are transferable into a teacher education program unless otherwise indicated in this agreement.
The four-year college or university will accept all approved credits (as listed above) earned within ten years of transfer. Course earned more than ten years earlier will be evaluated on an individual basis.
