Students
Before You Apply
Discover the Benefits
Set in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and surrounded by open land,
Boulder is considered one of the nation's most scenic cities. The
Boulder community and the university provide exceptional educational,
recreational, and cultural opportunities, and both have a warm appreciation
for the international student population. For more information, visit
www.colorado.edu/explore/index.html.
Evaluate Your Level of Study
CU-Boulder students are expected to have completed appropriate course
work in mathematics, science, language, and the humanities, and to have
excellent academic records. Complete the prescreening process at www.colorado.edu/prospective/international/evaluate/evaluate.html
to determine the academic credentials and grade standards that are expected
for students applying from your country, and to determine your program
level. Be aware that satisfaction of minimum academic standards, while
mandatory, is only one factor in securing admission to the university.
Generally, apply for the following level if you:

Take Required Tests
All international applicants are required to meet a minimum standard
of English proficiency. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
is required unless English is your native language. If you have completed
at least one year of full-time academic study at a U.S. institution (or at
an institution in a country where English is the native language) at
the time you apply, you have fulfilled the English proficiency requirement.
Undergraduate freshman and undergraduate transfer applicants with fewer
than the equivalent of 24 semester hours (usually one year) of transferable
academic college or university-level work at the time of application, must take the
SAT I or the ACT test.
Graduate applicants are usually required to take either the GRE or the
GMAT test. For more information on specific testing requirements by level
and department, refer to the International Student Application for Admission
at www.colorado.edu/prospective/
international/apply.html. |
