Undergraduate Applicants
Step 2) Application Requirements
We must receive a complete signed application, all required credentials, and the application fee in order to consider your application. The information below outlines what undergraduate applicants must submit.
1. International Student Application for Admission
Provide all information required, including your signature and complete educational history. Missing information may delay or stop the processing of your application.
2. $70 nonrefundable Application Fee
The nonrefundable application fee should be submitted in the form of an international
money order or a check drawn on a U.S. bank, made payable to the University
of
Colorado, in the amount of $70 (U.S. funds). We cannot accept credit cards
or
cash. Important: Print your full legal name and birth date on your check
or money order.
3. Official Scores on the TOEFL or acceptable equivalent
If you have completed at least one year of full-time academic study at a U.S.
institution or at an institution in a country where English is the native language (i.e.,
Australia, U.K.) at the time you apply, or if English is your native language,
you are exempt from
the TOEFL
requirement.
4. Official Scores on the SAT or the ACT Test
SAT or ACT(with or without the writing test) scores are required of all undergraduate applicants. SAT Subject Test scores are not required. However,
if you have completed 24 or more semester hours of transferable academic college
or university work at the time you apply, you are exempt from this requirement.
The CU-Boulder college code for the SAT is 4841; for the ACT it is 0532.
For more information on the SAT, go to www.collegeboard.com; on the ACT,
go to www.act.org.
5. Official or Certified Copies of all Secondary School Records
Include any official transcripts, marks, or grade reports, and any certificates,
degrees, diplomas, or statements of graduation or completion. If you are currently
attending secondary school, send all available records at this time, including
courses in progress. Final records are required upon completion of the course
work or program. All records should be submitted in the native language, and
credentials written in languages other than English must also be accompanied
by a literal, certified English translation.
6. Official or Certified Copies of all College or University Records,
if applicable
Students from China and India must be particularly careful to submit complete
official academic credentials (for university level work). Every page of each
document must bear an original stamp or seal of the institution. Chinese students
must submit both Chinese language and English translations of transcripts
and diplomas and must submit diplomas showing every degree awarded. Students
from India must submit individual marksheets for each semester or year, in
addition to separate diplomas showing every degree awarded.
Include any official transcripts, marks, or grade reports, and any certificates,
degrees, diplomas, or statements of graduation or completion from each college
or university attended, regardless of the length of attendance, whether or
not courses were completed, and whether or not you believe the record will
affect your admission or transfer of credit. If you are currently enrolled,
send all available records at this time, including courses in progress. Final
records are required upon completion of the course work or program. All records
should be submitted in the native language, and credentials written in languages
other than English must also be accompanied by a literal, certified English
translation.
7. Personal Essay (strongly recommended but not required)
- The Colorado Creed is a set of principles by which students at CU-Boulder live. It was created by a committee of CU students and is based on upholding strong values, making the right decisions, and being responsible for those decisions. It reads:
Colorado Creed As a member of the Boulder community and the University of Colorado, I agree to:
- Act with honor, integrity, and accountability in my interactions with students, faculty, staff, and neighbors.
- Respect the rights of others and accept our differences.
- Contribute to the greater good of this community.
I will try to uphold these principles in all aspects of my collegiate experience and beyond.
Explain the role that the values expressed in the Colorado Creed have played in your life. Keep in mind your potential contributions to a diverse and inclusive CU-Boulder campus community in light of the Creed.
- Provide information about any events or circumstances that may have affected your academic record.
8. Financial Statement
and Required Documentation
If your application for admission is otherwise complete, it can be reviewed
regardless of whether or not we have received your financial statement.
If you are academically eligible for admission to the university and you need
a Form I-20 (for an F-1 visa) or a Form DS- 2019 (for a J-1 visa), you
must
provide the financial statement with required documentation before your
admission can be finalized and before any immigration forms can be issued to
you.
9. Immigration Transfer Form, if applicable
If you hold an F-1 visa and are currently studying at another U.S. institution
and plan to transfer to the University of Colorado at Boulder, you must
complete
the immigration transfer form. This form will be mailed to you upon admission
to the university.
