When You Will Receive a Decision
International graduate student applications are evaluated in the Office of Admissions,
and then forwarded to the department for the final admission decision. The evaluation
typically takes a minimum of six to eight weeks from the time your complete
application, fee, and credentials are received in our office. At certain times
of the year
(i.e. as deadlines approach) the process will take longer.
After your application has been evaluated in the Office of Admissions, it is
forwarded to your department. Departments make all final admission decisions.
Questions about your department’s process or timeline for admission decisions
(as well as the awarding of assistantship positions) should be directed to the
department.
Notification
Official notification of admission will be sent to you from the Office of Admissions
only after the following conditions have been met:
- academic eligibility has been determined
- English proficiency requirements have been demonstrated
- adequate financial support has been documented (only for students needing an F-1 or J-1 visa)
- immigration transfer form has been received (if applicable)
Either the Office of Admissions or International Student
and Scholar Services (ISSS), in the Office of International Education,
provides the immigration
form that enables you to obtain the appropriate visa. You will receive a separate
mailing from ISSS about becoming a student at CU-Boulder.
