Step 3) The Application
We must receive a complete application, all required credentials,
and the application fee in order to consider your application. Be
sure to read the Application Requirements before filling out the application.
Follow the instructions below:
1. Access the Online Application
Using our online application, you can:
- Complete the graduate application for all departments within the Graduate School. (See the School of Law and the MBA program offered through the Leeds School of Business for their program application information).
- Request that your recommenders submit letters of recommendation electronically (they may also mail recommendations directly to the department if they prefer).
- Pay the application fee electronically by credit card (MasterCard or Visa). Payment by check or money order is also available with the online application.
2. Additional Application Forms
The financial statement is part of the online application. If you wish to print a pdf of this form see below. The prescreening guide can be used by you to asses whether your credentials and grades meet the standards expected by CU-Boulder.

Mail Required Materials
To ensure that materials you send to us are matched with your application file, include a student copy of Part 1 of your application as a cover sheet for the items you mail to the Office of Admissions. Failure to do this can result in delays in processing.

Graduate applicants to the applied math, astrophysical and planetary sciences, atmospheric and oceanic sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, French, geography, German, journalism, mcd-biology, music, physics, psychology, Spanish, and technology, media and society (ATLAS) majors, the Center for Advanced Engineering and Technology Education (CAETE), the School of Law, the MBA program, and the business PhD degree should send all application materials directly to the appropriate department or graduate program office.
Allow sufficient time for mail to be delivered to the United States. Most items typically require 10 days to two weeks from within the United States and even more time when sent from other countries.
