The Center for Neuroscience administers the CU-Boulder Neuroscience PhD program, fosters inter-disciplinary across-department research and interaction, obtains both federal and corporate funds to support the development of neuroscience at CU Boulder, and acts as a focal point for interaction with the neuroscience community with national organizations and programs at other universities.

PhD
PhD Students maintain a dual affiliation with their home department and
the neuroscience program. Each student pursuing the neuroscience degree
completes a set of common core courses, as well as depth requirements
in neuroscience, with the remaining courses being specific to their track
and home department affiliation. In addition to course requirements students
must successfully pass a comprehensive exam, complete a minimum of 30
dissertation credits, and successfully defend the dissertation.
Admission
Graduate School Minimum Admissions Standards
Individual graduate departments may have additional or more restrictive
standards by which they evaluate graduate applicants. However, the Graduate
School at CU-Boulder has established minimum standards for graduate admission.
Applicants must:
- Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university,
or have done work equivalent to that required for such a degree.
- Show promise of ability to pursue advanced study and research, as
judged by the student’s scholastic record.
- Have adequate preparation to enter graduate study in the chosen field.
- Have at least a 2.75 (2.00=C) undergraduate grade point average.
Note: Applicants who cannot meet this undergraduate standard may still
secure regular admission if they have completed 12 semester hours of
relevant graduate course work with at least a 3.25 average.

Financial Support Available
At present, all forms of financial support, including Teaching Assistantships
and Research Assistantships, are awarded by the home departments. As Training
Grants for Neuroscience are funded, this will change to a limited degree.
