Required Application Materials
In addition to completing the online application, the University of Colorado at Boulder requires that you submit several documents to your file before an admission counselor will review it and make an admission decision. You may also submit optional documentation to demonstrate your overall qualities and potential contributions to the CU-Boulder community.
Required Documents to Complete Your File
- Online application
- $50 nonrefundable application fee
- Official high school transcripts*
- Official college transcripts (if you have taken college coursework)*
- ACT or SAT I scores
- Two short answer essay questions (one 500 words or less, one 250 words or less)
*Official transcripts can be sent electronically by the issuing institution to apply@colorado.edu. Transcripts in languages other than English must be submitted in the native language and be accompanied by a literal, certified English translation.
Optional Documents
- One or two letters of recommendation
- Resume or list of cocurricular activities, work experience, leadership positions, and awards.
The Office of Admissions does not accept or use portfolio or audio/video submissions in its admission process.
Additional Requirements

- College of Music applicants must also complete a College of Music Application, provide a letter of reference and schedule an audition
