Colorado Resident Students
CU-Boulder, one of the top research universities in the nation, offers one of the best values to Colorado students. In-state costs are the lowest among member universities in the American Association of Universities and very similar to many other Colorado four-year public institutions.
In-state undergraduate students who attend a Colorado public institution are eligible for the College Opportunity Fund (COF), a statewide program that establishes a new way for Colorado to provide tax support for higher education. The COF application process takes a few minutes and students only need to complete it once. For more information about the College Opportunity Fund and application instructions go to www.cu.edu/ums/cof/faq.html
The Chancellor's Citizenship Scholars Program
This scholarship program awards $25,000 over four years to approximately 25 top Colorado incoming freshman students. Selection is based on high school record and activities, a resume, and an essay. Students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA to apply. Apply online by March 3 at www.colorado.edu/finaid.
The CU Promise Program
This program guarantees that eligible low-income Colorado residents will be able to afford a CU education without going into dept. CU-Boulder offers eligible students a financial aid award package that includes a combination of grants, scholarships, and a work-study award sufficient to fund the student share of tuition, fees, and estimated book expenses. See www.colorado.edu/finaid/promise.html for more information.
Out-of-State Students
Chancellor's Achievement Scholarship
Dedicated to recognizing outstanding achievement among incoming nonresident freshmen, the Chancellor's Achievement Scholarship is awarded to approximately the top 25 percent of the admitted nonresident freshman class.
Admitted students are automatically considered for this scholarship based on high school grade point average and test scores.
- Chancellor's Achievement Scholars receive a $15,000 award payable over a four-year period - $5,000 per year during the freshman and sophomore years and $2,500 per year during the junior and senior years.
- This award requires a minimum 2.75 CU grade point average for renewal.
- Over 2,500 scholarships were awarded to nonresident freshmen last fall.
Presidential Scholars Program
The Presidential Scholars Program is designed for entering nonresident freshmen in the top 1-3% of CU-Boulder’s admitted nonresident freshman class. Eligibility is based on high school grade point average, class rank, and test scores. Students are automatically considered for the Presidential Scholars Program upon submission of an admissions application. No additional application is required.
As a Presidential Scholar, students will be granted an exclusive tuition rate in recognition of outstanding academic achievements. The Presidential Scholars tuition rate effectively reduces out-of-state tuition by $40,000 over a four year period. Scholars are charged a tuition rate which is $10,000 less per year than what other nonresident students are charged.
Four-Year
Guaranteed Nonresident Tuition Rates
We realize families make important decisions and financial commitments
when selecting a college. While our tuition rates are well below those
of many private institutions, we recognize that our out-of-state
tuition is a considerable investment--one we are confident will pay a
lifetime of dividends.
A concern we hear from students and parents is the unpredictability of
tuition increases over a four-year program. Accordingly, we are pleased
to announce guaranteed tuition program that ensures that the tuition
rate for out-of-state undergraduate students will be constant for four
years. The guarantee is automatic and students don't need to take any
action to participate in this program.
