Step 5) Register for Classes
Once you confirm your intent to enroll, we will notify the
Office of the Registrar. If you enroll in the College of Arts and Sciences,
you are expected to attend an orientation program and will register for classes
at that time. Business students will be pre-registered for classes in June.
(Go back to the orientation section for details.)
Students enrolled in the Colleges of Engineering and Applied Science, Architecture
and Planning, or Music will register either by telephone, or via the web.
Registration information will be sent to you at the appropriate
time, either from the registrar's office, or the dean's office of your college
or school. Detailed information on how to register for fall and spring semester will be included in your registration materials or given to you at orientation. This information, along with the course listings for a semester, deadlines for adjusting your schedule and paying your bill, exam and commencement dates, and more are available on the registrar's web site. If you follow instructions carefully and complete each phase of registration by the published deadline, registration will be easy.
Final registration dates are shown in the registration calendars.
If you do not receive registration information at least one week before these
dates, call the registrar's office
for information.
Planning Your Schedule
Advanced planning will help simplify the registration process. To put together
a tentative list of classes before you register, use the schedule planning worksheet
in your registration handbook or the online
Schedule Planner.
Using the Online Schedule Planner
Using the Schedule Planner,
you can search for courses by subject, core requirements, and meeting time.
Once a course is displayed, you can access a description of the course, its
availability, required books, student ratings of the course, and the final exam
time.
You'll also be able to map out your schedule around other
commitments such as work and other courses and activities. Information
is updated daily during registration periods.
Summer Session
During the summer, CU-Boulder offers you over 500 courses in more
than 70 departments, including courses that count toward major and core
requirements, and a variety of terms to suit your work or vacation schedule.
Go to the Schedule Planner
for a complete list of summer session courses. Summer courses offer you
the opportunity to explore new fields, meet creative and professional
needs, and meet your degree requirements.
Maymester
Maymester is an intensive three-week session that allows you to take only one
course (no exceptions are made). More than 65 courses are offered. Maymester
allows you to earn credits and still have most of your summer free to work,
study, travel, relax, or participate in an internship. Maymester is only available
to continuing students.
