Step 3) Accept Your Financial Aid Award

If you haven't done so already, apply for financial aid at CU-Boulder by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1. For more information, go to the Office of Financial Aid web site.

We cannot process your financial aid application results until you are officially admitted to CU-Boulder.

Financial Aid Award Offer

  • Beginning in March, admitted students who have submitted the FAFSA receive a Planning Letter outlining their estimated financial aid.

  • Students who have submitted the FAFSA and other documents required receive an official Award Offer describing their financial aid.

  • You must formally accept all loans by returning the Award Adjust Form or calling 303-492-5091. We offer the maximum loan eligibility; therefore, it is your choice to accept the full or a lesser amount.

  • A Promissory Note will be sent to you outlining the loan contract. Sign the note and return it to the Office of Financial Aid (if you want the loan). Stafford Loan borrowers who have a completed a Master Promissory Note on file do not have to sign another.
