Alcohol Awareness Seminar

Given several times a year, this program emphasizes the legal problems associated with alcohol abuse.

Childrens Safety Month

This educational program for children in family housing is offered each summer. Each week a different aspect of public safety is explored, featuring ambulance service, fire fighters, park rangers and the CU Police Department.

Crime in the U.S.

Through this presentation to second-year International English students, foreign students receive information on many practical topics, including how to call for help and how the U.S. justice system works.

Drug Information Seminars

These talks cover recognition of controlled substances, their effects on people, and what to do if one suspects that someone is using or selling drugs.

McGruff Children's Program

Special appearances of the crime dog, McGruff, at family housing programs and local daycare centers educate children in safety matters. McGruff's friends hand out coloring books with various crime prevention messages. At some appearances, free fingerprinting of small children is offered.

Personal Safety on Campus

This program, usually given to small groups, covers ways to avoid being the victim of a physical or sexual assault.

Resident Advisor Training

Police department talks given during these sessions focus on campus crime, the role of University police, and how to recognize and deal with crimes occurring in residence halls. Also, liaison relationships are established between individual police officers and housing program assistants.

Robbery Prevention

This seminar gives cashiers tips on how to survive an armed robbery and be good witnesses.

Theft and Fraud Seminars

These presentations are usually given to people working in areas where check and credit card fraud occur (such as the CU Book Store, Bursar's Office, Recreation Center, etc.). The talks cover commonly used scams, how to recognize them, and what to do when they happen.

Violence in the Workplace

A program for CU Staff and Faculty. The presentation focuses on recognizing and dealing with potentially violent individuals. Specifically situations frequently encountered in the workplace.
