Lost and Found Property
Lost
There are a number of lost and founds on campus. If you have lost an item, check with the building proctor in each building near where you might have lost the item.
If you have lost a wallet with bank or credit cards, call the University Police Department at (303) 492-6666 to make a police report.
If you have lost other items, Police Operations staff will enter the items in a "lost item log" so that found items may be checked to see if they have been reported lost. To have your lost item added to this list, please call Police Operations at (303) 492-8168 during normal business hours, Monday-Friday except for official University holidays.
Found
Found property items of value are turned into the University Police Department located at 1050 Regent Drive.
Keys that are turned in to the Police Department are taken to the University Lock Shop located at Gate 8 in the Stadium.
If you find an item turn it into the Building Proctor in the building nearest to where you found the item.
For more information, call Police Operations at (303) 492-8168 or e-mail Officer Kathy Ives the property and evidence officer for the department..
Campus Procedures for Lost and Found Property
Each building should have one location of lost and found that is either maintained by the building proctor or organized by the building proctor. The Building Proctor will be the point of contact for persons reporting found or looking for lost property. The Police Department will maintain a lost and found for items of value. If an owners name is known, all efforts via phone, mail or email should be used to contact the owner.
Non-Monetary Items
Items of a non-monetary value like notebooks (not computers), books, costume jewelry, gloves, hats, scarves and other clothing items should be kept in the building lost and found. Found items of this type should be turned into the building where found or the closest building to where the item was found.
Items of Value
Items of value that are likely to have been reported to the Police as lost or stolen like wallets with money, credit cards, cell phones, valuable jewelry, prescription eyeglasses, etc. should be turned into the Police Department at 1050 Regent Drive.
Keys
Found keys with or without University keys should be turned into Access Services (Stadium Gate 8, Campus Box 53, 2-6609) with one exception. Keys with the square housing Medeco keys should be turned into the Housing Lock Shop (Campus Box 160, 2-1404). Call Housing Lock Shop as soon as these are turned into the lost and found as they charge students a large fee to do a re-key.
