Term is over!
I had a great time working with all of you this term, thanks! Have a nice break, keep in touch
Grades are up on WebCT. Let me know if anything doesn't make sense.
Other notes:
Summary of your feedback from Thursday is here. All much appreciated, there will definitely be changes the next time around, but clearly overall lots of good aspects too. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Many specific aspects are quite mixed (as would be expected with a diverse group like we had!) There was a pretty universal sense that the workload in the course was high - in one sense, I guess I'm delighted when people like a course but say the workload is high (that's part of my hidden curriculum - trying to teach that hard work is satisfying if the end goal is desired and progress is being made!) But I guess the remaining question is, was the workload tedious? inefficient? unneccesarily high?
Here is a copy of my own "learning goals" for Phys 4810/7810, which I wrote at the start of the term. I debated posting this earlier, but decided I wanted you to come up with your OWN learning goals. Just thought you might be interested now to see what I thought this course might be about...
I welcome your comments on the class and this website.
