LaplacePoisson

On the left, in honor of the subject of Chapter 3, the Laplace Equation, we have a portrait of Pierre Simon Laplace. You can get pictures of many mathematicians and scientists at the Dibner Portrait site. On the right is Simeon-Denies Poisson.

Week 6 - February 16-20:

  • OFFICE HOURS THIS WEEK: Monday office hours with Prof. Kinney will be in the tutorial bay, G2B77, from 3-4pm and 5-6pm. Tuesday office hours are in the same location and run from 4-6:00pm. If you cannot come to one of these sessions, send me an email, and I'll try to find another time.

Answers to the concept tests are also posted. Solutions to the exam of Feb 17 are now posted on the CULearn page.

  • READING: Now we will focus on solving Laplace's equation using a number of techniques: read Griffiths' 3.2-3.3.

  • TUTORIALS: This week we have a regular tutorial, Friday (Feb 20) at 4pm at the G2B tutorial bay G2B77. We'll study how to apply the seperation of variables technique to solve Laplace's equation. All tutorials are posted on the assignments page.

  • HW SOLUTIONS: Solutions to HW1 - HW5 are posted on our CULearn page.
