Welcome to Physics 3310, Principles of Electricity and Magnetism 1.
Have a look at the course syllabus and feel free to start reviewing topics in vector calculus in Chapter 1.1-1.3 of the text (Introduction to Electrodynamics, 3rd Ed., by David J. Griffiths).
Special notes:
- OFFICE HOURS THIS WEEK: As mentioned in class. there will be no Monday office hours this week.
Tuesday office hours this week only will be in F219 (my office, 2nd floor of Gamow tower). We'll move downstairs in the future. They start at 3:30 PM. If you can't come 3:30-5, shoot me an email, we'll find another time.
- WRITTEN HOMEWORK: Please work on the first HW assignment right away; it will give you a feeling for the math preparation we expect in this class. See the assignments link (always available on the sidebar) for more information about the first assignment, due this Wednesday (Aug 27) in class.
- READING: Start reviewing Chapters 1.1-1.3. We'll begin with Chapter 2 the first week of class. (So, if you want to get a little ahead - read 2.1 and 2.2 now)
- TUTORIALS: Our first tutorial is
this Friday (Aug 29) at 3pm at the G2B tutorial bays, G2B75 and G2B77.
