Physics 3220: Quantum Mechanics I

The superconducting Josephson junction shown above is a quantum bit or qubit for a prototype quantum comptuer. If quantum computers could be built, they might have tremendous computational power, because quantum mechanics allows for operations on superposition states that simultaneously represent many numbers.
