PHYS/ENVS 3070: Exam Information
Exam #3: The exam is in class on Wednesday, December 03, 2008. The exam will be open textbook (R&K) and calculators are allowed. You will not be allowed to use other outside notes. Thus, make sure to bring the book and a calculator to the exam! The exam will cover all of the material in Chapters 5, 6, 9, and 10 of the R&K text, homework assignments #8-10, and lecture material through and including Monday, December 1, 2008. The exam problems will be similar to homework assignments, in class worked out problems, and issues discussed in the text or in lecture. A practice exam from a previous year is available here as PDF. Here are the solutions to the practice exam above as PDF. The solutions to the actual exam are available as PDF. The exam has a total of 60 points. The average score in the class was 48 out of 60. The standard deviation was 8 points. Specific letter grades are not assigned to each exam. However, approximate grade ranges are 54-60 (A), 44-53 (B), 35-43 (C), and less than 35 (D,F).

The exam will cover all of the material in Chapters 3-5 of the R&K text (NOT including the sections of biomass and geothermal energy Section 5.5-5.10), homework assignments #4-7, and lecture material through and including Monday, October 20, 2008.
