Week 7 (Feb 27 and Mar 1): Finishing Ch. 4, starting Chapter 5.

You are currently working on CAPA #5 this week (due Friday, March 2)

Please note: the next set (CAPA #6) is NOT going to be due Friday Mar 9. I've decided to let it ride till a week later, Friday Mar 16. I'll get it out in the bins soon.

Solutions to homeworks are avaiable on our CULearn web page. (A detailed explanation of homelab 2 will be there after class on Tuesday, if you struggled with that!)

Check out our Virtual Office hours - a place to go to see if perhaps I've already answered a question you have!
See the "READING" link for notes and powerpoints and, (at the bottom of that page!) both ANSWERS and SOLUTIONS to many clicker question!

If you haven't done so, please register your iClicker here . This needs to be done right away now!

The modern drum kit was developed by jazz drummers in the 1920s and '30s. One of the greatest innovators was Chick Webb, shown above with fellow jazz giants Artie Shaw and Duke Ellington. The first drummer to play the jazz ride cymbal beat may have been Warren 'Baby' Dodds (audio clips here). Gene Krupa (watch) popularized the drum solo in the swing era, and was an important influence for many rock drummers.
