Welcome to PHYS 1230 "Light and Color" for Non-Scientists!  

Physics 1230 "Light and Color" course is a course about the science of light, color, & visual perception. The course is for nonscientists who are interested in what they see in nature & in how modern technology in homes & businesses works. The course covers material on light reflection & refraction, lenses, lasers, holography, applications in photography, methods of light sensing, etc. Course is geared toward nonscience majors and meets MAPS requirements for natural science: chemistry or physics. In the course, numerous demonstrations & hands-on experience will be widely used to promote interest & understanding of the material. This course should not be taken by students with a math MAPS deficiency & is approved for arts & science core curriculum: natural science.
