The two hourly exams will be held
during a regular class period on Friday. You will have 50 minutes to complete each
exam.
You should bring a calculator to the
exam. You may also bring a single 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper with equations or
notes as you wish. The paper must have your name and student number on
the top of both sides; the rest of the sheet may be in any format that
you choose.
If you are eligible for special
considerations because of a disability, you must bring a letter from the CU
Office of Disability Services. You must give me this letter by 4 pm Monday, 24
September. Normally, the letter will be in effect for the entire term, and you
need submit it only once. I will make special arrangements with you on a case
by case basis.
There are no unexcused absences from
exams. An unexcused absence will count as a 0.
You may ask to be excused from an exam because of a
conflict. I will accept this excuse only if it is in writing and only if you
give it to me by 4 pm on the Monday immediately before the exam or at least one
week before the scheduled date for the final exam. These excuses will be handled on a case by case basis. You
may be excused only once in the term because of a conflict.
You may be excused from an exam because of a medical
problem. Please give me a note from a doctor in this case if possible. I will
deal with these situations on a case by case basis.
The exams will consist of multiple-choice questions
and will be graded by machine. It is important that you bring one or two #2
pencils with you to the exam. Be sure that the pencils have clean erasers in
case you need to change your mind. All of the questions will have equal weight,
and there will be no partial credit. You should practice using your
calculator on simple problems that you can do in your head.
There will be 4 different versions of the exam, and
it is important that you enter your version letter as the answer to the last
question on the answer sheet. This is question number 60. Each exam will have
instructions about this.
The exam scores will be posted based on a truncated
version of your student number. If you agree to this, you should enter 0000 on
the grade sheet. If you do not wish your grade posted, enter 9999 in these
first 4 columns. If you do not fill out these columns then we will assume that
you do not wish your grade posted. If
you enter 9999 or do nothing then you will have to get your grade from me in person
or by mail.
