Steve as projectile

Physics 1110, General Physics 1

Instructor: Steven Pollock

Any object which is acted on only by gravity is called a "projectile", or "freely falling". Here I selflessly became a freely falling object solely for the photo-op benefit of future 1110 students. The bridge is 43 meters (roughly the height of Gamow Tower) above the Kawarau river in New Zealand. (I managed to dunk my entire upper body!)

How long was I freely falling? At what point did the bungee cord kick in and alter my motion? (Would you like to try this?)

Week 3 Highlights: Kinematics - two dimensional motion.

NEW RECITATION SECTIONS are available (at 8 AM and 11 AM). They're not crowded (better chance for individual attention!) Anyone is free to transfer into either one, but you must see Valerie in the physics office.

This week, we're in Ch 4 of HRW, or, finishing up Thinkwell Chapter 2 (Motion in 2- and 3-D)
