In this version of Ideal Gas (v3r9)
Click to launch:
What's new:
- Walls no longer leak.
- When gravity is on, all molecules are pumped in at 300K.
- Added graduations to the vertical wall.
- Added counters for the number of particles on either side of the vertical wall.
They aren't labeled yet because I couldn't think of a label that made sense that
wasn't 'way too big. If you think of something, let me know.
- Vertical wall is resizable, both width and height, if you click and drag when the mouse is over one of
its edges. If the mouse is over the body of the wall, clicking and dragging moves the
wall left and right.
- Right floor cannot be moved up to the level of the intake port.
- Added a "Diffusion" panel that has two vertical walls, one attached to the bottom of the
box, and the other to the top.
- Walls are highlighted when the mouse passes over them, and the cursor changes properly
as a cue that the user can do.
something interesting with the mouse.
- Walls can't be resized below a minimum width.
- Walls can't be moved too close to the walls of the box.
Features to Add
- Stopwatch
- Labels for histograms
- Provide the ability to specify the temperature at which molecules are put into the box.
- Change label on checkbox that enables/disables particle interactions
- Spell out "height" onthe slice measurement tool
- Smooth the pressure gauge response by adding some more slices to its data collection
- If the simulation is paused, it should unpause if the pump handle is moved.
Known problems
- Helium balloon can fall through the floor of the box
- Number of molecules indicated in the chamber for some panels is not reset properly when the
Reset button is clicked.
- Histograms appear to rescale oddly, and sometimes go flat for noapparent reason
