My research is part of a large effort at the University of Colorado Boulder to assess, rethink, and redesign our upper-level physics courses. Since Nov. 2010 I have worked closely with CU faculty members Heather Lewandowski (AMO Physics/JILA), Noah Finkelstein (PER), and others in the physics department to transform our senior-level Optics and Modern physics lab course.
- Incorporating modeling with experimental physics.
- Course transformation and curriculum design.
- Development of the Colorado Learning about Science Survey for Experimental Physics (E-CLASS) - a survey designed to compare students beliefs and attitudes about experimental physics with their perceived ideas about the goals of lab courses and their actual practices in the lab course.
- Computational physics across the physics curriculum (with Science Teaching Fellow Danny Caballero).
