His research spans the whole history of philosophy, from the Presocratics to the modern era, but has focused in particular on medieval philosophy, a topic on which he has published six books. His Thomas Aquinas on Human Nature won the APA Book Prize in 2005. Professor Pasnau has also published a series of papers on contemporary philosophical problems, focusing in particular on the nature of sensible qualities. He is presently writing a book on philosophy's transformation from the medieval to the early modern era, and editing the forthcoming Cambridge History of Medieval Philosophy.
