The
Hiddenness of God
To many people it is not obvious that God exists. Even
after looking at all the evidence and arguments that can be marshaled in
favor of theism, they find themselves quite unable to believe. According
to some non-theists, this provides a strong reason for thinking that God
does not exist. But even for a theist, the “hiddenness” of God may pose a
troubling question. Why, if God wants our love and devotion, should it be
so hard for some people to discover that God exists?
