fyi, OMB Watch new "blog" (federal spending)
by W. Curtiss Priest
17 July 2003 13:42 UTC
Under the directorship of Gary Bass, OMB Watch
monitors Federal spending. If you wish to be
on their newsletter see below.
I have not seen a debt or deficit concern, except
as to how "cuts" might effect programs that OMB
Watch wishes to see preserved.
Here is a sample headline:
Subject: [budgetgroups] OPPOSE THE TAX CUTS - UNFAIR, COSTLY, AND FULL
OF GIMMICKS Date: Tue, 06 May 2003 18:03:41 -0400 From: Ellen Taylor
Anyone wishing, say, newsletters of the last 6 months, I
can send a .zip of that.
As I sometimes do, I republish a newsletter to other lists
to both provide readers with an introduction, and, in this
case to provide information about how an advocacy group
is testing the use of a blog.

OMB Watch's budget group is pleased to announce the launch of a new
federal budget "weblog."
A "weblog," also known as a "blog," is a popular term to denote a
website (or a portion of a website) that contains short, frequent
posts, often containing web links. The entries are usually sorted in
reverse chronological order and are often archived by category as
well as by date.
OMB Watch's new weblog will cover a wide range of tax and budget
issues, and will be updated throughout the week by OMB Watch budget
staff. We hope you will find this to be a useful resource.
The weblog is located at http://www.ombwatch.org/budget/weblog/.
Best, John Irons
