Study Abroad
Many University of Colorado PACS students go abroad at some point during their tenure at CU.  PACS recognizes that these courses often provide valuable study about peace-making, whether in conflict resolution, development, religious issues, economic issues, or environmental issues.  PACS wants to support such study abroad, when and if it is relevant to the study of peace and conflict.  If you are planning to go abroad, you may want to get your study abroad courses pre-approved for PACS. If so, you may submit a course description of the course or courses you think might be relevant to PACS. If you have already been abroad, you may like to find out if your coursework applies to PACS.If so, you may want to print out an unofficial transcript from CU (i.e. on the PLUS system), then highlight the relevant courses. You should also submit course descriptions, since the course title is rarely enough to go by.

Many study abroad programs are on the web, and you can print out relevant documents from your program's website.

Submit coursework (with your name, student id#, and email address) to Stan Deetz's mailbox in Communication (the basement of Hellems Bldg).                                =========================================================
PACS is currently hoping to compile a list of study abroad programs especially suited to the study of peace and conflict.
Please contact dylan.clark <at> colorado.edu if you have suggestions.  If you are an alumnus of an abroad program and would like to add your comments about a program, please feel free to contact Stan Deetz.

The School for International Training (SIT) offers a number of abroad programs with peace themes.
SIT has an excellent reputation for safety, professionalism, and educational achievement.

The Alliance for Conflict Transformation is also offering a new summer program in conflict resolution.  It is in Bolivia.
PACS is unfamiliar with the Alliance for Conflict Transformation, but notes that they have been hired by the US and Israeli governments.  This suggests a certain level of reliability.

Another program takes you to Ireland and Cyprus, where you will study the dynamics of conflict resolution in divided societies.

Syracuse University offers a summer program in Europe, focusing on the European Community, its legal codes and its modes of conflict resolution.
The Syracuse summer program is located in Strasbourg, France.

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev offers many classes in conflict resolution.  The university is in Israel.
