Method of charactizing majors
Majors with at least 80 seniors were oversampled so that we could characterize these majors individually. Within a given college, seniors not in one of the characterized majors are grouped together into an "other majors" category. Only Arts & Sciences, Business, and Engineering have at least two "characterized" majors; the results of the other colleges/schools are, therefore, not reported by major.
Fourteen A&S, four Business, and five Engineering majors were characterized. Average scores presented in Displays 1a-11c are weighted to adjust for differential response rates across majors.
Method: All figures in Displays 1a-11c are based on responses from the following 1998 unweighted numbers of seniors in the 23 majors:
