PBA Home > Institutional Research & Analysis > Surveys > Senior Survey 2008 > Population and Respondents Senior Survey, Spring 2008Population and RespondentsThe population for the 2008 Senior Survey consisted of CU-Boulder seniors who were enrolled in Spring 2008 and who had not requested that their personal directory information be kept private (n = 6,802). It was possible for a student to be included initially in the population more than once. For example, a student with two majors would be included twice (once for each major), and a student with three majors would be included three times. For the final population, however, a student with more than one major would appear only once. The total number of students in the initial population was 7,983. Accounting for students with multiple majors reduces this number to 6,802, which is the unduplicated population size. Additional information about the number of seniors in majors, departments, and colleges/schools/A&S divisions is contained in a table of n-counts for the population and respondents. For students with multiple majors, the major to which they would refer when responding to survey questions was randomly chosen prior to the survey administration. The e-mail invitation provided specific instructions concerning the chosen major (e.g., "Please answer the survey questions with respect to your major below"). Reporting Because we surveyed the entire population of seniors in 2008, statistics in this report for the entire campus, colleges/schools/A&S divisions, and individual majors are unweighted. In contrast, statistics shown in displays of time series are weighted to adjust statistically for different sampling fractions and response rates over majors for the years 1993-2004 (but not for 2008). |
