Senior Survey, Spring 2008

Results by Major

Data from the Senior Survey were analyzed by academic major. In this section, the results for large majors in Arts and Sciences, Business, and Engineering are displayed graphically. Letters in the graphs denote different academic majors, within colleges.

For reporting purposes, some majors that had relatively small numbers of respondents were combined. These include:
  • Fine Arts-Studio Arts (BASA & BFAS) -- PBA-assigned grouping code AAAH
  • Asian Studies, Chinese, and Japanese (PBA-assigned grouping code EALC, East Asian Languages and Civilization)
  • French and Italian (PBA-assigned grouping code FRIT)
  • Germanic Studies and Russian Studies (PBA-assigned grouping code GSLL, Germanic and Slavic Languages)
  • Dance (DBFA & DNCE) -- PBA-assigned grouping code THD1, Dance
  • Theatre (TBFA & THTR) -- PBA-assigned grouping code THD2, Theatre
  • Chemical and Biological Engineering and Chemical Engineering (both under major code CHEN)
  • Engineering Physics and Physics (both under major code PHYS)
  • Design Studies, Environmental Design, and Planning -- PBA-assigned grouping code ARPL, Arch & Plan (DSGN, ENVD, PLAN)
  • English-Secondary, Mathematics-Secondary, Music Education-Elementary Secondary or K-12, Science-Secondary, Spanish-Secondary, and Social Studies-Secondary -- PBA-assigned grouping code EDUC, ED (EDEN, EDMA, EDMU, EDSC, EDSP, EDSS)
  • Broadcast Production, Journalism-General Studies, and Media Studies -- PBA-assigned grouping code JOUR, Journalism (BCPM, JRGS, MDST)
  • Music-Arts, Music (MUSC), and Music Education -- PBA-assigned grouping code MUSC, Music (MUSA, MUSC, MUSE)

Because of the large number of majors displayed in the graphs, separate sets of highlighted graphs that allow efficient viewing of results for individual majors are provided. In these graphs, each major is highlighted in turn by a special symbol. For example, in the set of graphs that display results for anthropology majors, a red triangle denotes their results, whereas results for all other majors are denoted by their original symbols (i.e., letters). A guide to interpreting the graphs is also provided.
