Ninety-seven students cited one or two such courses, and another 108 said they had not taken any. Among the courses cited were everything from Aerospace Engineering to English to Fine Arts to Tourism Management. As might be anticipated, most of the attitude-changing courses were offered by social science department, particularly Ethnic Studies. Twenty-seven courses (20% of all those cited) were in Ethnic Studies. An additional 19 courses (14%) were in English-this includes cross-listed courses in Women's Studies and other departments-and 16 courses each (12%) were offered by History and Sociology. The primary comment given in response to this question was that students learned more factual material about other cultures as a result of the course. Other students gave a general compliment to the course or instructor, and a few said that they had experienced a "consciousness-raising" or had learned more about their own culture and issues.
