CU-Boulder Campus Climate Survey, Fall 2006

Winners of Campus Climate Survey Awards

Five students who completed the Student Climate Survey were randomly selected to receive a cash award for completing the survey. Three students received $100 cash awards and two students received $500 cash awards. The five lucky winners of these awards are listed below, along with information on their class level and degree programs.

The two $500 award winners:

• Shannon Steward, Senior in Journalism
• Chih How Bong, Ph.D. student in Engineering

The three $100 award winners:

• Janay Christine Ingram, Freshman in Integrative Physiology
• Christian R. Hoppus, Junior in Environmental Studies
• Elizabeth L. Goggin, Ph.D. in Mathematics

We asked the two $500 winners to provide more information about themselves and what they planned to do with the awards they received. Here is what they said:

"My name is Shannon Michelle Steward, and I am a Journalism major with an emphasis in news-editorial, and a history minor. My father was in the Army, and after a brief stint in Germany, we moved to Colorado Springs, were we have been ever since. I will be graduating in December of this year, and hope to work for a magazine as a writer. This money was a very welcomed surprise. It will be used to cover my living expenses, as well as a few luxury items with which I have been tantalizing myself with for some time."

"I am from Malaysia and now am a PhD student in CU. I never thought that I would be fortunate to win the $500. However, I really like to thank my God for giving us this wonderful gift when we were in need of money. I will give a portion of the money to my Church in Boulder and I will keep the rest of the money for the time when we need it."
