Scale Name Description
Academic emphasis Extent to which UCB emphasizes academic rigor including reading, writing, preparing for class, working hard, and studying.
Advising Students' perceptions about the quality and availability of academic advising.
Cognitive skills Extent to which course work emphasizes thinking skills including critical thinking, analysis, quantitative reasoning, synthesis, and judging.
Community engagement Extent to which students volunteer, tutor, or otherwise participate in the larger campus and Boulder community.
Computer/IT use Use of email and other computer and information technologies for academic purposes.
Course availability Students' assessment of the availability of major and general education classes.
Experiences with diversity Extent to which students explore experiences with those who are members of different social groups; extent to which UCB supports and encourages such activity.
Faculty engagement Assessment of student/faculty interaction, getting prompt feedback from faculty, engaging in collaborative research, and talking about career plans.
General education Extent to which UCB contributes to acquiring a broad general education and developing writing and speaking skills.
General satisfaction Students' general feelings of satisfaction with the university's academics, administration, and faculty
Personal development Extent to which UCB contributed to students' ability to understand themselves, learn on their own, and become active citizens.
Practical academics Skills and experiences gained in the classroom, such as the ability to work in groups, make presentations, acquire work-related knowledge, and contribute to a community based class project.
Satisfaction with class size Satisfaction with upper and lower division class size.
Study abroad Percentage of students that have studied abroad, or plan to study abroad before they graduate.
