Items sharing a common theme were combined into a single scale using factor analysis. Data were analyzed separately for seniors and freshmen. Because there were few differences in scales for seniors and freshmen, results obtained by analyzing senior data were used. A total of 14 scales were constructed. Nine were identified via factor analysis; we added 5 other scales to assist in interpretation of the data. For example, because of the importance of having specific feedback on advising, we kept advising items as a separate scale even though these items combined with the general satisfaction scale based on factor analysis. Scales ranged from 2 to 12 items, with reliabilities typically in the .6 to .8 range. Scales by institution This graph shows results for seniors and freshmen, by institution, for the 14 NSSE scales. Scales are ordered from high to low based on the CU-Boulder senior mean. Clicking on each scale name displays item-level results for each institution. |
