August 18, 2009 fall enrollment update
CU-Boulder officially counts enrolled students on “census date,” this year Friday September 11. We also monitor registrations of both new and continuing students
throughout the summer. At the same time, the colleges host orientations for new students and pre-register many in courses even before students arrive on campus.
We are pleased that despite the recession, registrations for continuing undergraduates, new undergraduates, and graduate-level students all appear on track with May 2009
projections based on 2007 and 2008 activity. This is true for both in-state and out-of-state students, with out-of-state registrations especially strong at all levels
despite the recession.
We expect around 5,600 new freshmen, compared to 5,833 in fall 2008. Total enrollment is expected to increase by 1-2% from fall 2008. Classes start Monday August 24.
All sectors of the campus will be helping both new and continuing students get the year off to a good start.
