Driver Safety & Training

 

CDL Training

Parking & Transportation Services can train and administer the driving exam for Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDL) for university employees who require this license for their employment. Staff driver trainer: $45/hour
Student assistant trainer: $45/hour
CDL examinations: $100

Defensive Driving Course (DDC)

The course is a 4-hour program presenting defensive driving techniques in an interactive format. Each session includes the most recent information regarding air bags, anti-lock brakes, road rage, safety belts, etc. The course is free of charge for university staff and students.

Individuals who drive as a requirement for their university employment and anyone under the age of 26 who drives university vehicles from  Parking & Transportation Services (i.e. student, staff, or faculty) are required to take the training.

At least five persons are required for a class to be held. Classes are offered:

  • First Wednesday of each month, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • All other Wednesdays, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Each Thursday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Classes meet in the Transportation Services training room located at 3205 Marine St. on East Campus. Call 303-492-7152 to sign up for the class and have the following information ready:

  • Dates and times you are available
  • Name of person attending
  • Campus department name
  • Speed type of department
  • Department contact person, campus box, and phone number

15-Passenger Van Training

Parking & Transportation Services has mandated a two hour computerized course (Coaching the Van Driver) and a forty-five minute behind-the-wheel evaluation for 15-passenger van operators.
