Commencement

Spring Commencement 2008 will take place Friday, May 9th at 8:30 a.m. Please read below for information regarding parking and traffic for  recognition ceremonies (taking place both May 8th and 9th) and commencement. Also, the University of Colorado’s Commencement web site provides additional information.

Spring Commencement

Recognition ceremonies occur on campus on Thursday and Friday during the week of commencement.

Thursday

  • Expect traffic congestion on Regent Drive most of Thursday afternoon because of events at Coors Events/Conference Center.
  • Many permit lots will be open to the public, and all grey meters and pay stations will be free after 1 p.m.
  • Parking lots with signs stating that a permit is required "At All Times" will not be open to the public.

Friday

  • Parking and traffic personnel will direct drivers to free parking just off Regent Drive.
  • Parking for persons with disabilities will be available south of Folsom Stadium off Colorado Avenue.
  • Many permit lots will be open to the public, and all grey and blue meters will be free throughout the day.
  • The hourly parking rate at Euclid AutoPark located at Broadway and Euclid is $1.75.
  • Stadium Drive north of Dal Ward will be closed to all traffic between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on commencement day to accommodate the procession to the stadium.

Alternatives to driving on campus include walking, riding bikes or taking the bus. The Skip and the Hop transport you from the Pearl Street area to campus. Visit RTD's web site for bus schedules and route information.


Winter Commencement

The university’s winter commencement ceremony is held at the Coors Events/Conference Center.

  • Recognition ceremonies take place throughout the afternoon on the day before commencement, resulting in increased afternoon traffic and parking lot use after 2:00 p.m.
  • City and campus roads will be congested for approximately 1 ½ hours before and one hour after the ceremony.
  • Parking lots and gray meters near the events center will be used for commencement parking at no charge.
  • The Euclid AutoPark’s $1.75 hourly rate will be in effect on commencement day.
  • Parking lots with signs stating that a permit is required at all times will not be open to the public.
  • Parking for persons with disabilities will be reserved near the Events Center.
