Skills and Training for Students

Students in the BURST program are required to attend the professional development seminars and activities sponsored by BSI. These seminars are designed to enhance student training and enrich the research experience. Sessions will be taught by the BSI staff, CU Faculty and other experts! As much as possible, sessions will be tailored to student needs.

Current Schedule*

  • Session 1 - Program information, lab orientation, maintaining a lab notebook, experimental design, reading journal articles, and safety

  • Session 2 - How to make presentations of your research

  • Session 3 - Brainstorming and strategies for writing scientific proposals

  • Session 4 - Troubleshooting and finalizing scientific proposals

*Seminar topics subject to change.

Other optional sessions, such as information about other undergraduate research opportunities, will also be offered.
