Outreach Awards
The
Outreach Awards Program is offered to teachers at the elementary
and secondary levels because an interest in science is often sparked long
before a student reaches the university level. As teachers incorporate
an increasing number of inquiry-based, investigative activities into their
science curriculum, equipment is often needed and funding is scarce. The
goal of the Outreach Awards Program is to help make funds available
to teachers for equipment to help you to do more hands-on science experiments
with your students.
- Eligibility: Only K-12 Colorado teachers are eligible to apply. Priority for grant distribution will be given to teachers who participate in a BSI teacher workshop between May 2011 through April 2012, and/or to teachers in high need Colorado schools.
- Awards must be used to purchase equipment for student/classroom use. Please see examples
of funded equipment.
- Awards are based on the quality of the project and application.
- Awards are given out twice a year and teachers may only receive one award per year. A single applicant from one school may apply for up to $500, while multiple applicants from one school may apply for up to $1,000.
- NEW: A school may only receive one award per academic year (single or multiple applicants).
- Award application deadlines:
Fall - November 7, 2011;
Spring - April 2, 2012
- We will require
you to fill out an evaluation after you use the
equipment/materials in your classroom.
